A human can make 45<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cShips, chips, autos, and batteries continue to find strong demand amid the global tech boom, and higher prices along the tech supply chain have helped support the value growth for trade,\u201d said Lynn Song, chief economist for Greater China at Dutch bank ING.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>By product categories, overall exports of semiconductors in May more than doubled year-on-year by value while autos were up almost 40%. China\u2019s biggest electric vehicle maker BYD said it sold more than 160,600 vehicles abroad in May, up 80% from a year earlier.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Advanced semiconductors and EV shipments are likely to help power China\u2019s export growth for the rest of this year, Li of BNP Paribas said.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Trump\u2019s visit to Beijing in May and his meetings there with Chinese President Xi Jinping\u00a0in mid-May\u00a0have raised hopes for improved relations between the world\u2019s two largest economies after the two leaders agreed to set up boards of trade and investment.<\/p>\n<p>But analysts said the recent year-on-year improvement in Chinese exports to the U.S. probably has more to do with base effect, after Trump\u2019s\u00a0sweeping \u201cLiberation Day\u201d tariffs\u00a0that came into effect in April 2025 caused a sharp drop in China\u2019s shipments.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese leaders have set a\u00a04.5% to 5%\u00a0annual economic growth target for 2026, slightly below the \u201caround 5%\u201d goal for 2025, and the slowest expansion goal since 1991.
