Here\u2019s what changed in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Amazon\u2019s Prime Day\u2014synonymous with deep discounts and deals\u2014will run for four days, from June 23 until June 26, making this the second consecutive year Amazon has stretched the event beyond its original two-day format.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/crosscountrymovingteams.com\/?p=2104\">Reid Hoffman says SpaceX is \u2018not an AI company\u2019 and xAI is a \u2018complete train wreck\u2019\u2014and there\u2019s room for both OpenAI and Anthropic<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Amazon has been rewriting the Prime Day playbook ever since the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic,\u00a0experimenting\u00a0with the number of days, adding a fall edition, and now shifting the whole thing to June, before summer travel kicks in and big events like the\u00a0FIFA World Cup\u00a0really start competing for people\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cBy moving Prime Day so much earlier this year and keeping the four-day format that it launched last year, Amazon is able to pull summer\u2019s retail calendar forward and gain better access to consumer spending,\u201d Sky Canaves, eMarketer analyst for retail and e-commerce, told Retail Brew.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon ran a two-day June Prime Day in 2021 because of the pandemic disruption.<\/p>\n<p>Canaves estimates that this year\u2019s Prime Day will give Amazon \u201cits biggest share of Prime Day spending in the US since 2019, which is before all of the competing retailers really started ramping up their online presences and their competing sales.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amazon Prime launched in 2005 as a $79 annual membership\u2014it\u2019s now $139 per year\u2014built around unlimited two-day shipping. Over time, as Amazon added perks like Prime Video, the program grew into something much bigger. The last publicly\u00a0disclosed number\u00a0for total Prime members stood at more than 200 million.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u00a0By running the sale early, Amazon gets to shoppers before they\u2019ve already spent on summer essentials like grills and patio furniture and before travel eats into their budgets.
