Take Elon Musk, who recently became the world\u2019s first trillionaire, who thinks Scott\u2019s giving is actually making the world \u201cworse off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/crosscountrymovingteams.com\/?p=2486\">Australia\u2019s under-16 social media ban is failing, so the government is (literally) doubling down<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On June 27, Pubity, a major viral media and social news brand, posted on X about Scott\u2019s giving, saying her $26.3 billion in donations has made her one of the \u201cbiggest individual donors in history.\u201d The ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was recently confirmed as the biggest megadonor in 2025.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Then, an account with 22,500 followers with the name @FrenlyOfficer whose bio describes them as a \u201cHeterosexual Alpha Male,\u201d replied to Pubity\u2019s post about Scott saying \u201cUnfortunately, she\u2019s spending it making the world a worse place.\u201d Musk then responded to @FrenlyOfficer agreeing with the sentiment, saying: \u201cSadly, yes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk is fresh off losing his history-making trillionaire status and is still comfortably the world\u2019s most richest man, yet he\u2019s been outspoken about how supposedly hard philanthropic giving is. Fresh off securing his $1 trillion pay package from Tesla in late 2025, he said philanthropy is difficult.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI agree with love of humanity, and I think we should try to do things that help our fellow human beings,\u201d Musk told Nikhil Kamath for the <em>WTF<\/em> podcast in an episode published in December 2025. \u201cBut it\u2019s very hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He explained that he thinks it is simply challenging to \u201cto give away money well.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe biggest challenge I find with my foundation is trying to give money away in a way that is truly beneficial to people,\u201d he added. \u201cIt\u2019s very easy to give money away to get the appearance of goodness. It is very difficult to give money away for the reality of goodness. Very difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Scott is revered for her no-strings-attached approach and trust-based philanthropy. No,\u201d French Gates said in an interview with <em>Wired <\/em>published in December 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Although French Gates said there\u2019s more to be done by billionaires in terms of philanthropic giving, she clarified that her criticism didn\u2019t apply to all who signed the Giving Pledge.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay, have those people actually been giving money? Some of them, yes, some of them at massive scale,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are trying to demonstrate through the pledge that you can give at massive scale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>French Gates also more recently credited Scott for her philanthropic work.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe have the old adage, actions speak louder than words,\u201d French Gates told <em>Fortune<\/em>\u2019s Most Powerful Women Editor Emma Hinchilffe in an interview published earlier this month. \u201cI look back at the giving MacKenzie [Scott] has done in the last year.
