{"id":4192,"date":"2026-07-25T13:14:02","date_gmt":"2026-07-25T13:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crosscountrymovingteams.com\/?p=4192"},"modified":"2026-07-25T13:14:02","modified_gmt":"2026-07-25T13:14:02","slug":"two-gun-rights-groups-are-suing-the-u-s-virgin-islands-over-concealed-carry-for-nonresidents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/crosscountrymovingteams.com\/?p=4192","title":{"rendered":"Two gun rights groups are suing the U.S. Virgin Islands over concealed carry for nonresidents"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The nonprofits are asking a federal judge to allow nonresidents to apply for and be issued licenses to carry concealed handguns in the U.S. territory.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/crosscountrymovingteams.com\/?p=4190\">Bechtel CEO: to build America\u2019s future, we must first build the builders<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit filed this week asserted that Florida resident Sean Dale Henry, a member of Gun Owners of America and supporter of Gun Owners Foundation, called the U.S. Virgin Islands\u2019 police department multiple times to apply for such a license.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cHenry has been unable to get the USVI police to so much as pick up the telephone,\u201d the lawsuit states. \u201cThe fact that the USVI police do not answer their phone makes (Henry\u2019s) need to keep and bear arms for his own self-defense all the more vital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the U.S. territory\u2019s government did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit filed Monday notes that Henry plans to visit the U.S. Virgin Islands at least twice in upcoming months and seeks to bring a concealed gun\u00a0for self-defense purposes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Second Amendment doesn\u2019t end at the shoreline,\u201d Luis Valdes, the U.S. Virgin Islands\u2019 outreach director for Gun Owners of America, said in a statement. \u201cAmericans don\u2019t lose their constitutional rights simply because they travel to a U.S. territory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/crosscountrymovingteams.com\/?p=4188\">Salman Rushdie describes a \u2018lake of blood\u2019 as his convicted attacker faces terrorism charges tied to the 2022 stabbing<\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>It is the second time the U.S. Virgin Islands\u2019 government and its police commissioner are sued over the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>In December, the U.S. Justice Department\u00a0sued the U.S. territory, accusing it of obstructing and systematically denying American citizens the right to possess and carry guns.
