{"id":5066,"date":"2026-08-07T05:41:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T05:41:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crosscountrymovingteams.com\/?p=5066"},"modified":"2026-08-07T05:41:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T05:41:12","slug":"nintendo-profit-surges-over-50-on-movie-console-sales-even-as-sales-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/crosscountrymovingteams.com\/?p=5066","title":{"rendered":"Nintendo profit surges over 50% on movie, console sales even as sales fall"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Kyoto-based Nintendo Co. reported Thursday 147.4 billion yen ($933 million) in April-June profit, up from 96 billion yen in the same period a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/crosscountrymovingteams.com\/?p=5064\">Singapore\u2019s IPO reboot sees 3.5x the listings and over $3 billion raised, as reforms bring bourse revenue up 14%<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quarterly sales dipped 9.5% to 517.8 billion yen ($3.3 billion).<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Working as a negative for Nintendo, as with many Japanese companies, were U.S. President\u00a0Donald Trump\u2019s tariffs, as well as the rising price of memory chips and other components.<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo is forecasting 310 billion yen ($2 billion) in profit for the full fiscal year through March 2027, down nearly 27% from the previous fiscal year, on annual sales slipping 11% to 2.05 trillion yen ($13 billion).<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo said sales of Switch 2 machines totaled 3.82 million globally. Nintendo\u2019s older Switch business is still holding up, with both console and software sales continuing, even as the new machine is also in demand.<\/p>\n<p>In Switch 2 software, \u201cYoshi and the Mysterious Book,\u201d released in May, and \u201cPokemon Pokopia,\u201d released last year, were popular, leading to software sales totaling 9.46 million units for the quarter, according to Nintendo.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe Super Mario Galaxy Movie\u201d raked in 517.8 billion yen ($3.3 billion), much of it from overseas.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/crosscountrymovingteams.com\/?p=5062\">Over a third of employers handed out \u2018peanut butter raises\u2019 this year\u2014now, a quarter of bosses admit they\u2019re losing top talent because of bad pay<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Nintendo Switch 2, which went on sale in June last year, is still going strong, the company said.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Nintendo hopes to keep building on the momentum by adding more games to the lineup, including \u201cSplatoon Raiders,\u201d which went on sale last month, as well as new games in the works, such as \u201cThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Nintendo is projecting Switch 2 console sales to total 16.5 million units for the fiscal year, down nearly 17% from the previous year.
